Today, August 13th, is results day for Level 3 courses, including A levels, AGQs, tech levels, and T levels. Below you can see reaction, news, and case studies from our member colleges as they celebrate the achievements of their incredible students (and teachers!).

Callywith College, Cornwall

Callywith College’s exceptional students have secured outstanding qualification grades, with over 75% of A level results at A*-C, a 99.5% pass rate on extended diploma vocational qualifications, and a 100% pass rate on T levels. 

Callywith College principal Jon Grey said: “We are very proud of the results achieved by our students and it is a huge endorsement of the dedication shown by students and staff at the college over the last two years of study. The individual stories of success are what makes Level 3 results day such a great day in the college calendar. The vast majority of our university applicants have successfully gained entry to their first-choice institutions. Across the college, we have so many great success stories and I’d like to congratulate all our students on what they have achieved and urge them to keep in touch with the college to let us know how their next steps into employment, apprenticeship or university are going.”

Agnes Wilkinson (left) has achieved A*A*A in fine art, photography, and film studies A levels. She is now going on to study fine art at the Ruskin School of Art at the University of Oxford. Reflecting on her results, Agnes said: “I’m feeling relieved, excited, terrified. I worked so hard throughout my courses to achieve the best results I could, and my efforts have paid off! Callywith was extraordinary. The staff were fantastic, I loved my classes and their teaching. I felt truly supported and encouraged throughout my time here, every step of the way. I felt my tutors
 really got to know me as a person – I was known and supported individually and allowed to work in my own way. This built my confidence and independence and ultimately contributed hugely to my work ethic. I’m determined to take my art as far as I can, pushing myself to explore new avenues and develop my skills further.”

Paige Hicks (right) achieved D*D*D* in the BTEC Level 3 extended diploma in applied science and is now going on to study chemistry at Cardiff University. Reflecting on the experience at Callywith,
Paige said: “It was great. All the staff were lovely and adapted to teach in a way for each individual to understand.”

Ben Carey's (left) A*AAA in maths, further maths, economics, and chemistry are taking him to Durham to study mathematics. He said: “My experience at Callywith was exceptional. My lecturers were very helpful with any questions that I had and gave lots of support."

 

 

Blackpool Sixth Form College

Blackpool Sixth Form College is celebrating another year of outstanding achievements as students receive their Level 3 results, marking the culmination of two years of hard work, determination, and resilience.

Principal Nicola Craven said: "We are incredibly proud of our students’ achievements this year. They have shown not only academic excellence but also tremendous character and determination. These results are a testament to their commitment, the support of their families, and the tireless dedication of our brilliant teaching and support staff. The college continues to deliver a rich and varied curriculum, blending academic challenge with personal development, and ensuring that every student is equipped for success in their next chapter.

"Our mission is not only to support students in achieving excellent qualifications, but to inspire them to be confident, compassionate, and capable individuals ready to make their mark in the world. This year’s results are a shining example of what can be achieved through hard work, teamwork, and a shared belief by staff in every student’s potential. The college recognises the unwavering commitment of its staff, whose expertise, care, and encouragement have been instrumental in guiding students to success."

Amongst the many students celebrating amazing achievements is Sara Kundan Khan, pictured above with Nicola, who achieved A*A*A*A* in maths, further maths, economics, and English literature, and is heading to the University of Cambridge to study economics. She said: "Blackpool Sixth has been the backbone of my application. All the teachers have been so helpful and supportive throughout."

Niall English (left) studied A level environmental science, geography, and biology, and is heading to the University of Cumbria to study ecology and wildlife conservation. He is among the first students ever to complete environmental science at Blackpool Sixth, having been part of the subject's inaugural cohort. 

Murcia Eva (right) studied BTEC Health and Social Care and is taking a gap year before pursuing a career supporting children with special educational needs, a path she discovered through her course. She said: "Health and Social made me realise I want to work with SEN children. The community at Blackpool Sixth is great, and I loved the course I did." 

 

 

Oldham Sixth Form College

Oldham Sixth Form College is once again celebrating outstanding A level and vocational results, with 67% of students achieving all A*/A or vocational equivalents. This summer’s results exceed the national pass rate and are once again some of the strongest achievements in the college’s history, reflecting the hard work and dedication of each of OSFC’s students.There was also a 100% success rate for T Level students, 7% higher than the national pass rate, with 96% achieving a distinction or merit. 

Suzannah Reeves, principal, said: “As always we are delighted with the achievements of our students. We are proud to say that, in spite of COVID interruptions throughout the start of their secondary school experience in years 7 and 8, our students have done a fantastic job. I am immensely proud of the dedication of students and staff to give Oldham Sixth Form College such excellent results”.

A quarter of all OSFC students applying to university will be progressing to highly competitive Russell Group universities in September, including Ayesha Begom (above with Suzannah) who achieved A*A*A* and will be studying pharmacy at Manchester, Hafsa Begum (below left), who also achieved A*A*A* and is joining her at Manchester to pursue law - in which she received the highest marks in the country today - and Megan Rainton (bottom right), whose A*A*A* is taking her to Warwick for mathematics.

 

CAPA College, Wakefield

Students at CAPA College are celebrating another exceptional set of results, achieving a 100% pass rate across A levels, UAL Level 3 extended diplomas, and Level 3 Extended Project Qualifications (EPQ). The outstanding results mark the end of a landmark year after being graded exceptional in all areas by Ofsted following its inspection in spring this year. Alongside a 100% pass rate, an impressive 90% of students studying the UAL Level 3 extended diploma achieved a distinction, reflecting the high level of achievement across the board.

But for CAPA College, Results Day is about more than grades alone. All 250 students in the Class of 2026 are progressing to their first-choice destinations, spanning leading drama schools and conservatoires, universities, apprenticeships, as well as professional employment.

Claire Nicholson, principal of CAPA College, said: "At CAPA College, our ambition has always been about more than achieving excellent qualifications. We want our students to leave us with the skills, confidence, experience and professional understanding they need to build successful futures. Seeing this year's students take that next step is the strongest possible way to end what has already been an exceptional year for our college. Following our Exceptional Ofsted grading earlier this year, these results are another testament to our remarkable students, our dedicated staff and the ambitious culture we have created together. We cannot wait to see where the Class of 2026 goes next."

Cheshire College - South & West

The college is celebrating another successful year of A Level results, with 2026 marking the third consecutive year of an increased high-grade profile across its A Level subjects. BTEC students saw an impressive 99% successfully achieving their qualification, while T Level students also celebrated strong results, with an overall pass rate of 94.2%. This year's results reflect the hard work, resilience and commitment shown by students across academic, technical and vocational programmes, with strong performances across a wide range of course areas. Students will now progress to universities across the UK, higher and degree apprenticeships, and skilled employment. Many will continue their learning and develop careers in areas such as healthcare, engineering, digital, education, business and the creative industries.

Principal and CEO Jasbir Dhesi OBE said: "Today is about celebrating our students and everything they have achieved. We have seen our students grow in confidence, develop new skills and overcome challenges to reach this important milestone. Whether they are progressing to university, higher apprenticeships, employment or further study, they leave us ready to make a positive contribution to their communities and chosen industries. We look forward to seeing what they achieve next."

Among those celebrating was Rachel McGarry who achieved A*A*A* in A level maths, biology, and chemistry, and will go on to study veterinary medicine at the University of Cambridge. She said: “It hasn’t really sunk in yet. I’m heading off to the University of Cambridge to study veterinary medicine for the next 6 years. I’ve loved every minute of college. The teachers are so supportive, and I will remember them for the rest of my life.”

Felix Gorman achieved D* D* D* in creative media practice and is progressing to Staffordshire University to study games art. They said: “I’m really happy with my results, I got the highest grade that I could achieve which I’m really proud of. The college is so welcoming and there are a lot of very talented teachers here.”

Amy, who studied A levels in English language, psychology, and media studies, is going on to do an early years apprenticeship in a nursery. She said: “It’s been incredible and I have made friends for life. I didn’t think I would pass, and I have, so I’m over the moon.”

Christ the King Sixth Forms, London

 

Christ the King Sixth Forms is delighted to celebrate the outstanding achievements of its students on this year's Level 3 results day 2026. This year, 98.2% of A Level entries achieved a pass, vocational qualifications achieved a 99%+ pass rate, and 85% of students are progressing to university or degree apprenticeships.

This year's results day also marks the final one under the leadership of executive principal Shireen Razey OBE, who leaves this summer after more than two decades of dedicated service to Christ the King Sixth Forms. As the college prepares for the new academic year, Dr Molly Makota, executive principal (interim), said: "These exceptional results are a wonderful celebration of everything our students have achieved and a true testament to their talent, determination and resilience. They also reflect the unwavering dedication, expertise and care of our teachers and professional services staff, whose commitment to supporting every student is at the heart of our success. It is a privilege to build upon the incredible legacy of Shireen Razey OBE, and I look forward to welcoming both returning and new students in September as we continue to provide an outstanding education and ensure every young person has the opportunity to flourish."

Students will now progress to a wide range of prestigious universities across the UK, including institutions such as King's College London, Imperial College London, University College London, University of Nottingham, City St George's, University of London and many more. Others have secured competitive degree apprenticeships with leading employers or are progressing directly into employment across a range of professional sectors.

Hanaan Abdi achieved A*A*A in maths, psychology, and business, with an A* in the EPQ, and is going to UCL to study psychology with an integrated masters. Hanaan said: "I am so pleased with my A Level outcomes. I know that this is a result of all my effort and hard work. The support the teachers have given me here at CTK is unparalleled and has encouraged me to achieve my very best throughout. I will be studying psychology at University College London. I am delighted to have been awarded a Metric Capital Scholarship this year and will receive up to £15,000 for the duration of my university study. I am extremely grateful to Metric Capital and CTK."

Morire Awosedo's distinction in T level engineering and manufacturing is leading to Brunel, where she will be studying engineering. Morire said: "The teaching I have received has been great and I have enjoyed being part of the CTK community. I will always value the friendships I’ve built at CTK and time I was able to spend with my friends in the chaplaincy. The engineering facilities are exceptional and the many trips and visits have enhanced my studies."

Immaculate Okoeguale's D*D*D* in the extended diploma in health and social care, meanwhile, leads to KCL for a nursing degree. Immaculate said: “My course has given me a great insight into health and social care. I have enjoyed my studies, particularly reading case studies and learning about real life scenarios. It has motivated me to gain a career in healthcare and from September I will be studying Nursing at Kings College University. I enjoyed completing my work experience which provided me with a great insight into what it would be like working in Health. The college Careers Conference I attended helped me decide which universities I would like to study at.”

Worcester Sixth Form College

Worcester Sixth Form College is celebrating another year of strong student achievement as students receive their examination results, whilst also marking an important milestone in the college's history with the transition to new leadership. The college’s A Level pass rate of 98% is above the national rate for the twenty-second year running. On applied courses, there was a pass rate of 99.3%, and a T Level pass rate of100%.

This year's results continue Worcester Sixth Form College's proud tradition of academic success and progression, with students securing places at leading universities, higher and degree apprenticeships and a wide range of employment opportunities.

As he prepares to leave the college after a successful period as principal, Ed Senior reflected on both the achievements of this year's students and the strength of the college as he hands over to his successor: "I am incredibly proud of the achievements of all our students and hope that they enjoy celebrating their success with family and friends. These results represent hard work, determination and commitment from our students, supported every step of the way by dedicated staff and supportive families. As well as their academic achievements, I am proud of the way our students have grown as individuals during their time with us. They have taken full advantage of opportunities both inside and outside the classroom, developed confidence and independence, and are exceptionally well prepared for their next steps whether that be university, apprenticeships or employment."

Notre Dame Catholic Sixth Form College, Leeds

Students at Notre Dame Catholic Sixth Form College are celebrating another year of outstanding results across A-levels, BTECs, CTECs and T Levels. The class of 2026 has achieved an impressive set of results, with students securing places at leading universities, progressing to apprenticeships and preparing to take their next steps into employment. Among this year’s highlights are a 99.5% pass rate, with 750 high grades D*-M achieved on BTECs and CTECs. Notre Dame’s T Level students are also celebrating strong results, with 100% of students studying T Level health and T Level digital software development achieving a high grade (D-M).

Ten Notre Dame students have secured places at the University of Oxford or the University of Cambridge this year, following their success in the College’s Enhancing Excellence programme. The programme supports students with high academic potential who are considering applications to Oxford, Cambridge and other top 30 universities, as well as competitive courses such as medicine, dentistry and veterinary science. Students benefit from a range of opportunities throughout their time at college, including academic lectures, guest speakers, mock interviews and dedicated support with university applications.

Notre Dame principal, Justine Barlow, said: “Today we celebrate another outstanding set of results from our students. Their achievements reflect their dedication, determination and hard work, as well as the support of their families and the commitment of our staff. I am immensely proud of every student and all they have achieved. We look forward to seeing them take their next steps with confidence and continue to make a positive difference in the world around them.”

Cardinal Newman College, Manchester

It has been another outstanding year for results at Cardinal Newman College, with students achieving exceptional grades in their A Level and vocational qualifications. The results have been amazing across the board, with two-thirds of students achieving an A*-B grade, and an impressive 34% of students achieving an A grade or higher, while more than 10% secured an A* — which is the second year in a row that Cardinal Newman has broken its own outstanding record. These remarkable results have once again placed Cardinal Newman College among the top 10% of colleges nationally for student progress. The performance of BTEC students was equally impressive, with more than 80% achieving at least a distinction grade and nearly a quarter achieving the highest grade of a distinction*. 

Alongside high-quality teaching, students benefit from a comprehensive pastoral programme delivered by dedicated Achievement Tutors, ensuring they have access to guidance and individual support throughout their time at Newman. Students are also encouraged to challenge themselves and pursue their ambitions beyond the classroom. The College's Newman Honours Programme provides additional stretch and challenge for high-achieving students, supporting them as they work towards some of the most competitive university courses and future destinations. An extensive enrichment programme gives students opportunities to develop their interests and broaden their experiences through activities, trips and visits in the UK and overseas. This is complemented by a wide range of specialist support, including the College's Counselling, Equality and Diversity, and Health and Wellbeing teams, helping students develop the confidence, resilience and skills they need to thrive both academically and personally.

Loreto College, Manchester

 

Loreto Sixth Form College students and staff are delighted to celebrate their A Level and Level 3 Vocational results, with the highest number of A*-A grades awarded, ever. Students achieved a 99.2% pass rate at A level with 64% of grades at A*-B, while BTEC extended certificates saw a 100% pass rate. 20 students met their offers to study at Oxbridge.

Principal Michael Jaffrain said: "I am overjoyed with these results and the transformative impact these successes will have on the lives of so many young people. The Loreto College community is a special one and one I am incredibly proud to serve as principal. It is a privilege to work alongside such ambitious and aspirational young people, as well as our highly driven and committed team of staff. Well done to all on these results. Since the Loreto Sisters first arrived in Manchester 175 years ago, our mission, ethos and outstanding commitment to our students have continued. We remain an aspirational, supportive and nurturing community guided by the seven values of our foundress, Mary Ward: Joy, Justice, Truth, Sincerity, Freedom, Internationality and not least, Excellence. The successes of our student body span our entire community, including our Pathways students, who achieved 100% pass rate in their NOCN Employability Certificate and Functional Skills. St Brendan's Sixth Form College, Bristol

St Brendan's Sixth Form College is celebrating another year of continued success today as students collect their A Level and vocational qualification results. With the largest A Level cohort in the region, the college is celebrating the achievements of a diverse and ambitious group of students as they take their next steps towards university, degree apprenticeships and rewarding careers. Students at St Brendan’s have achieved an A level pass rate of 97.6%, while 299 of the grades achieved by students on Level 3 BTEC and Applied General courses were either Distinction or Distinction* - the highest grades possible. 

Among the college's many outstanding student success stories is Zabian (left), who achieved A*AA in graphic communications, history, and physics, with an additional A* in his EPQ, and will progress to the University of Oxford to study philosophy, politics and economics following a gap year.

George, right, will be heading to Durham to study theology after achieving BBB, while the College has also seen significant success in higher and degree apprenticeships. Students have secured prestigious Level 6 and 7 apprenticeship opportunities with employers including KPMG, Osborne Clarke and Airbus.

Marian Curran, principal of St Brendan’s, expressed her pride at the students’ achievements, saying: “I could not be prouder of our students. These results reflect their resilience, ambition and sheer hard work, and they have earned every grade. But a results day at St Brendan’s is about far more than numbers - it is about the confident, thoughtful and well-rounded young people who leave us ready for whatever comes next. My thanks go to our dedicated staff, whose commitment makes days like this possible, and to the families who have supported these young people every step of the way. The success we celebrate today belongs to our whole college community.”

Bede Sixth Form College, Stockton

Results day is offering plenty to celebrate at Bede Sixth Form College. The hard work and determination have paid off with students achieving a 99% A level pass rate at the college in Billingham. The results come in a year when recent growth at the college, both in student numbers and the number of students choosing A level subjects, has seen a 60% increase in A level entries.  

Patrick Jordan, the principal, said: “It is a phenomenal achievement not only to maintain but to build on those high standards set in recent years. This means more students from across the Stockton borough and the surrounding areas are getting the amazing results they need to progress on to their chosen courses, next steps or employment.”

As a dad himself, Patrick takes his responsibility to all Bede’s students seriously and admits to feeling a few nerves when the results come in. In fact, this year, his own son was among the latest cohort picking up results. “To see my son collecting his results, and his friendship group, is a reminder, if it were needed, of the importance of what we do here for every individual.”

Among those receiving results was Max Hardiman, left, who achieved A levels in economics, PE, and business studies - but he had to pick up his results remotely, as he is already in Georgia, USA, getting ready to study sport and exercise science at Emmanual University! Following in the footsteps of some of his own coaches who trained in America, he explained that at the competitive university sport is a cornerstone of college life. He said: “My goal has always been to go to college in the States to develop my tennis... It includes training for two hours on a morning and two hours on afternoon, for five or six days a week." Taking competition in his stride, as part of Bede’s Institute of Sport and Education (ISE) he represented the college in Billingham at the AoC Sport National Championships this summer and made it all the way to the final where he brought home the silver.

Isaac Coe (right) achieved A*A*A in chemistry, maths, and business studies, and will be going to Newcastle to study chemistry. Looking back to his plans before Bede, he said: “It is funny because I didn’t like science and maths in secondary, until I got to Year 11. I was going to study totally different subjects. I started working harder for my GCSEs and I just found they really fascinated me.” After choosing to study both subjects at college, his grades have continued to surprise him. Now, top marks again means he gets to follow in his brother’s footsteps studying in Newcastle.

Millie Coupland (below left) picked up a D*D*D*, the highest possible grade, in her BTEC extended diploma in sport and exercise science, securing her place studying sports and exercise therapy and rehabilitation at Leeds Beckett University. Millie has a proven talent for juggling the demands of her studies around her sport. Taking up netball when she was nine, Millie quickly progressed to playing at county and regional level. She is a longstanding member of Grangetown Netball Club and for the past two years has played for the Under 19s Leeds Rhinos North East squad.

After years spent on the netball court, she said: “I like the idea of bringing someone back from injury and helping get them to where they were in their game, if not even better... Leeds Beckett is one of just a few universities to offer that course, so it felt good to get my offer. I can’t wait to get started.”

Carmel College, St Helens

Carmel College students are celebrating outstanding exam results today, with the class of 2026 securing places at their first-choice destinations, including Oxford and Cambridge, medical and veterinary schools, and prestigious degree apprenticeships with major employers. They recorded a 99.6% Level 3 pass rate, with 68.9% of grades awarded at A*-B / Dist*-Dist level and 91.1% at A*-C / Dist*-Merit level.

Isla Ebbrell achieved an exceptional A*A*A*A and will study English literature at Newnham College, University of Cambridge.

Sam Poulter also achieved A*A*A*A and has secured a mechanical design degree apprenticeship with Sellafield Ltd, combining higher-level study with a career at one of the UK's major engineering organisations.

The results also opened the door to highly competitive professional courses, with Amy Bolan progressing to veterinary medicine at the University of Nottingham after achieving a distinction*, distinction, and a C in her mixed programme.

Principal Janet Gater said: “We are absolutely delighted with the results that our young people have achieved, and we are incredibly proud of each and every one of them. It has been a genuine pleasure to support all of our young people in achieving their goals and being a part of their journey to success, whether that involves university, degree apprenticeships or employment. Our students have already made a fantastic contribution to the Carmel College community, and we are now excited to see the positive impact they will have in the wider world.”

Prior Pursglove and Stockton Sixth Form College, Teesside

Prior Pursglove College, Guisborough, is celebrating a positive upward trend with its A level results in 2026! The strong set of results include a 97.33% A Level pass rate, the college's best performance in A Levels in three years. Of these, 71.5% of grades were at A*–C and 43.8% of grades were A*–B - up almost 4% on last year. Applied General Qualifications also performed strongly, achieving a 100% pass rate across 12 subjects.

Angela Stevenson, the college’s recently appointed head of centre, said: “This performance highlights the breadth of successful pathways available to learners at Prior Pursglove College and the commitment of both learners and staff to achieving positive outcomes. At Prior Pursglove College, academic and vocational achievement is supported by a rich programme of enrichment and personal development opportunities. Learners benefit from our international strategy, including trips to places like Sri Lanka, Peru Spain and Tanzania and university experiences. We also attract inspiring guest speakers from industry and higher education, helping students build confidence, broaden their horizons and understand the opportunities available beyond college.”

Above, Angela congratulates student Mathys Pappo, alongside local MP Luke Myer who also attended the college. Mathys achieved A*AA in chemistry, biology, and geography, and is starting a degree apprenticeship in Darlington with cpi. He says: “They work on producing vaccines and work with other companies too - it’s really varied. My predicted grades were ABB so I am over the moon with the results I’ve got. I will have a bioscience degree after the four-year course. I could stay in cpi and become a scientist and then a senior scientist. There are different routes so I could go into project management if I wanted to. I had a great experience with the teachers at Prior, they were all really good and helped me from start to finish."

Stockton Sixth Form College is celebrating a 100% pass rate for BTEC qualifications and a 98% pass rate across A Levels. More than half of all A-level results (53.9%) were awarded at A*–C. Expanding its vocational curriculum, the college introduced T Levels in Health (Adult Nursing) and Engineering (Manufacturing) at the start of the 2025/26 academic year, and the programmes have enjoyed an outstanding first year, with 100% of students successfully passing their examinations. 

Mike Mackin, Head of Centre at Stockton Sixth Form College, said: “I am immensely proud of our students and staff for the dedication, resilience and commitment they have shown throughout the year. To achieve improving results for a third consecutive year is a significant milestone and a strong reflection of the journey we are on as a college... It reflects both the commitment of our students and the expertise of our staff in delivering high-quality academic and vocational education that equips young people with the knowledge and skills increasingly valued by employers and the wider economy."

Megan Mohibi, above with Mike and with Atomix Education Trust CEO Dr Nichole Munro, achieved A*AA in psychology, biology, and chemistry, and is heading to Sunderland to study medicine and surgery. She said: "It was nerve-wracking. All the way up to today I kept thinking, am I going to get in? This week was the worst of it. Then I checked UCAS and there was just relief. I'm happy with whatever I got, because I've got into medical school. My advice is be consistent from day one. A levels are hard, all of them, so do a little bit every day. You won't regret it in Year 13 when it's chaotic with personal statements, UCAS applications, interviews and your actual exams. Secure your Year 12 content before you go into it. I always knew I wanted a traditional sixth form, and it's the only one here in Stockton. My dad has a restaurant and a lot of the older girls who came in recommended Stockton Sixth Form College. Most of them had been here themselves, for the quality of the teaching and the atmosphere. I'd like to thank my parents. They put all the work in for me."

Ayomide Oguntoyin, left, received a double distinction* in health and social care, a distinction in applied science, and a B in the EPQ, and is progressing to Northumbria to study paediatric nursing. "Through the college I went to Sri Lanka and Tanzania. In Tanzania I volunteered in the paediatric ward the whole time, taking records and doing community outreach. We served over 300 people. It was so rewarding. My advice is take every opportunity you can. In my university interview I talked about Sri Lanka and Tanzania, and it made me stand out."

Thomas Rotherham College, Rotherham

 

More than 700 students at Thomas Rotherham College have been celebrating excellent A level, T level and BTEC results, including Charlotte Stribley (left), who is going to Oxford to study English literature.

“These results are life-changing,” said college principal, Joel Wirth.“These are outcomes that will allow students from across our region to progress onto their chosen next step. For some, that’s on to university courses, for others, it’s into the apprenticeships or work programmes they’ve set their hearts on. Today, we are delighted to celebrate with our students as they begin the next stage of their life adventure. We’re so proud of them. King Edward VI College, Stourbridge

Students at King Edward VI College, Stourbridge, are celebrating another strong set of results after completing more than 3,500 A levels between them this summer. The college achieved a 99.5% pass rate, with 55% at A*–B. Students completing other Level 3 qualifications also celebrated excellent individual achievements. Criminology students secured particularly strong results, with a 97.6% pass rate on the Applied Certificate and 99.5% on the Applied Diploma. Behind the headline figures are individual students progressing to a wide range of destinations.

Sam achieved A*A*A*A*A in maths, further maths, music, physics, and music technology and will be studying at the University of Birmingham. Sam said: “I’m going on to be doing Maths with an International Year at University of Birmingham. For any students joining King Ed’s – just go for it, you’re not going to have another chance at a college as good as this!”

Delphi secured A*AA and is progressing to University of Cambridge to study Anglo Saxon, Norse and Celtic. Delphi said: “The last two years have been amazing! I’ve met people who are going to be friends with for life and I have felt encouraged by my teachers.” 

Isla studied business, economics and sociology, achieving A*A*A, and will now take up a level 7 degree apprenticeship in auditing with Deloitte. Isla said: “King Ed’s has made me realise I am capable of a lot – the teachers here are incredible. You never feel like you are on your own. There is always someone supporting you.”

Holly Bembridge, principal of King Edward VI College, said: “Today is for our students. Their results reflect two years of tough work, intellectual curiosity and determination, and we are so proud of them. Almost 2,000 A*-B grades and a 99.5% pass rate are impressive achievements, but the figures tell only part of the story. Each set of results belongs to an individual student with their own talents, challenges and goals. What is especially pleasing is the breadth of success: from mathematics and the sciences to the humanities, social sciences and creative arts. It reflects both the range of our students’ interests and the value of sustaining a genuinely broad curriculum. Sefton Sixth Form College

Students and staff at Sefton Sixth Form College are celebrating another year of impressive A-level results, with students’ hard work, determination and commitment recognised in their achievements. The College achieved an impressive 97% A-level pass rate, with over two thirds of students securing grades A* to C. The number of high grades has been particularly outstanding this year, with the academic distance travelled by several students far exceeding expectations. A-level performance ‘value-added’ is also the highest seen by the college since the Covid-19 pandemic. These results mean the college will be in the top 6% of further education colleges nationally for A level progress for the second consecutive year.

Deborah Faulkner, campus principal at Sefton Sixth Form College, said: “A-level results day is always a special moment, and it has been fantastic to see the excitement and pride on our students’ faces as they celebrate their achievements. Whether they are progressing to university, moving into employment or taking their next steps in another direction, we know they leave Sefton Sixth Form with the skills, confidence and ambition to succeed. We have also had some brilliant success with our first cohort of Year 12 Further Mathematics students, who are now progressing onto their second year."

Due to the excellent results achieved, many students will now be progressing to study higher education at some of the most prestigious universities, including the University of Sheffield and Durham University. Alternatively, some students are progressing onto degree-level apprenticeships or full-time employment.

Mathilda Bardi, who achieved A*A*A* in business, computer science, and mathematics, said: "I’m absolutely thrilled with my results. There were definitely times when A-levels felt overwhelming, but the support from my teachers at Sefton Sixth Form College really helped me stay focused. I’m so excited to be heading to university and starting the next chapter.”

Lucas McNamara achieved A*AA in economics, business, and mathematics, and is off to study economics at the University of Liverpool. He said: “I’ve worked towards this moment for the last two years and it feels amazing to finally see all that hard work pay off. Sefton Sixth Form has given me the knowledge and confidence to take the next step towards my future career, and I’m so excited to see where it takes me.”

Abdul Alkidra is another success story, gaining a place at the prestigious Hull York Medical School. He said: “Wow, I am delighted with my results and getting my place at Hull York. I have had a fantastic few years at Sefton Sixth Form College and I want to thank all my tutors for the support they have shown me. I am looking forward to celebrating and starting my next chapter at university; becoming a doctor has been a lifelong dream.”

Winstanley College, Wigan

Winstanley College students are celebrating another year of outstanding success after the class of 2026 received their results today.  The overall A-level pass rate was 98.6%. A hugely impressive 62.8% of students achieved A* to B grades at A-level and 30.6% achieved A*-As. In vocational courses, 72.3% achieved Distinction*/Distinction. These results top off another highly successful year for Winstanley College, which will shortly be celebrating its 50^th anniversary. 

Among the many individual success stories are Alistair Gilbert-Crowe, who achieved A*A*A*A* in economics, maths, further maths, and physics and is heading to Oxford to study physics, and Thomas Stokes, whose distinction* in IT is taking him to Lancaster to study cybersecurity.

Close friends Lara Ashraf, Leo Ball, and Hasma Abou el Soub (above) were celebrating together as they collected their results, despite each heading in a very different direction. Hasma is set to begin studying medicine at Queen's University Belfast, while Lara will be taking up a place to study Law at the University of Manchester. Meanwhile, Leo is looking forward to staying at Winstanley College for another year to complete an Art Foundation course as he continues to develop his creative talents. 

Principal of the college, Simon Lett, said: “I am immensely proud of our students for their excellent achievements in this year’s results. These grades reflect their hard work and resilience, but also the dedicated support of our teaching and support staff. I wish the Class of 2026 all the very best as they progress to the next stage in their education and training and look forward to welcoming them into our ever-growing alumni community." 

Wyke Sixth Form College, Hull

Today sees the best ever set of results at Wyke Sixth Form College, with a pass rate of 99.7% across Level 3, 60% of A levels at A*-B, and 85% of vocational results at distinction or higher. Students have proven that their sustained effort, supported by exceptional teaching and pastoral teams, have led to fantastic outcomes and destinations.

This year, Wyke’s outstanding Oxbridge programme continued to place students at these highly prestigious universities. They included Selina Huang, who achieved A*A*A in maths, politics, and history, confirming her place to study philosophy, politics and economics at the University of Oxford. Reflecting on her time at Wyke, Selina offered advice to future students who are considering applying to Oxbridge: “I would say be prepared. It's going to be tough and there'll be like points where you're not sure whether it's like the right thing for you. But it's important to stay committed to your dreams and just keep pushing forward.”

A growing number of students secured highly competitive degree apprenticeships, including Tilly Clarke who is going to Smith and Nephew after achieving AAB in criminology, sociology, and physical education. When asked about why she chose the degree apprenticeship route, Tilly said: “I decided that being able to go to work, earn money and get a degree will really benefit me. I had a conversation with Smith and Nephew at Wyke and was supported by the careers team through the full process. I was very happy when I got the phone call to say that I had been offered the place.”

Wyke offers a broad portfolio of vocational courses as well as A levels, providing an alternative pathway to gaining level three qualifications. Dan Collins was awarded a triple distinction in the extended diploma in performing arts. After collecting his results, Dan said, “I'm going to Performers College in Manchester. I’ve always had a passion for performing arts from a young age and studying it intensively at Wyke sparked it fully.”

University of Liverpool Mathematics School

54 students at the University of Liverpool Mathematics School (ULMaS) are celebrating another outstanding set of A-level results, as founding headteacher Damian Haigh prepares to retire after leading the school since it opened in 2020. Almost two-thirds of all A-level entries were awarded A* or A grades, with 83% achieving grades A* to B. Three in ten entries received the highest grade of A*, and seven students achieved straight A* grades. The results represent continued excellence at ULMaS: since its first cohort sat examinations in 2022, the school's average grade has remained consistently at or above A-, establishing ULMaS as one of the highest-performing state sixth forms in the country.

Alex achieved A*A*A grades and will read mathematics at Jesus College, University of Oxford.  Recently he has been studying with emeritus Professor Peter Giblin of the University of Liverpool to take his learning well beyond the A-Level curriculum.

Ali Zavery (left) achieved A*AA and will be taking a degree apprenticeship with Rolls Royce. Degree apprenticeships are proving to be an increasingly popular and prestigious route for students with strong A-Level grades.

Eleanor Todd (below right) achieved A*A*A and will read computer science at the University of St Andrews.

Damian Haigh, founding headteacher of ULMaS, said: “These are excellent results, and the students deserve enormous credit for them. Our founding students were beginning their A-level studies after months of lockdowns and unprecedented interruptions to their education. Six years later, the school has been judged Outstanding by Ofsted, named State Sixth Form College of the Year and established a consistent record of exceptional academic results. More importantly, we have helped hundreds of talented young people develop the confidence, knowledge and ambition to flourish at university and beyond."

Brighton, Hove, and Sussex Sixth Form College

As the fourth largest A Level centre in the country, BHASVIC has again maintained its exceptional standards this year, with a 99% A Level pass rate across 36 subjects, and with a 99% pass rate for BTEC and vocational subjects. Over two-thirds of A Level outcomes received an A* to B grade. These results remain well above national averages and reinforce BHASVIC's position as one of the top-performing colleges in the country, while remaining proudly non-selective and serving a large and diverse student community.

Many students will progress to university, with the vast majority securing places at their first-choice institution. This year, 62 students received an offer to study medicine, veterinary or dentistry and 49 students received offers to Oxford and Cambridge, maintaining BHASVIC's reputation as one of the leading providers of Oxbridge entrants globally. Alongside academic success, students benefit from extensive opportunities to develop employability skills and gain work experience through the college's dedicated Employability and Enterprise specialist tutorial pathway programme. An increasing number of students are also progressing into apprenticeships and employment, demonstrating their readiness to apply their learning in the workplace and continue down a path that suits their individual preferences the most. Success takes many forms, and every student's journey deserves recognition and celebration. Students who come to BHASVIC leave with so much more than just qualifications.

Landau Forte Academy Tamworth Sixth Form

Students at Landau Forte Tamworth Sixth Form are celebrating after receiving an excellent set of A Level and vocational results this year. 37% of the grades achieved at Tamworth Sixth Form were at the very highest level: A*/A at A level or Distinction*/Distinction for vocational courses.

Across the country, sixth formers have recorded an impressive crop of results, with the students of Tamworth Sixth Form very much being a part of this success. Among the high performers are:

• Ruby Robinson, who achieved A*D*D* in A level psychology and BTEC sport, and will study psychology at the University of Nottingham
• Ava Kirk, who achieved AAA in maths, chemistry, and physics and is pursuing an apprenticeship
• Oliver Blanksby, who achieved AAAB in maths, further maths, physics, and computer science, and is progressing to Birmingham University to study mechanical engineering

Katie Adams, Landau Forte Tamworth Sixth Form principal, said: “We are incredibly proud of our students and their fantastic results. They have all worked incredibly hard, supported by their teachers and families. It has been amazing to see them celebrate their success today - we wish them the very best for their futures. Seeing the calibre of our sixth formers, I know that they will go on to succeed and make a valuable contribution, whether that’s continuing their education, working or taking up a higher apprenticeship.”

John Leggott College, Scunthorpe

This year’s results reflect the hard work and commitment of students and staff across the college community, with learners achieving excellent outcomes across both academic and vocational programmes. 56% of Level 3 students achieved high grades, while 60% of John Leggott students are progressing to higher education at over 70 universities across the UK and internationally.

Principal Leon Riley praised the achievements of students: "Today is a fantastic celebration of our students, their achievements and the incredible journeys they have been on during their time at John Leggott College. These results reflect the commitment, perseverance and ambition shown by our learners every day. I would like to congratulate every student who has worked hard over the past couple of years to take that next successful step forward. I’d also like to thank our dedicated staff for the support, guidance and expertise they have provided throughout their time at college. We are incredibly proud of the Class of 2026 and excited to see the futures they will create.”

Among the college’s high achievers is Tyler Southall (left), who studied A Level law, biology and chemistry and achieved an outstanding A*, A, A, alongside a further A in core maths. Tyler will now begin studying veterinary bioscience at Glasgow University.

The college’s Aspire Programme continues to provide targeted support for students aiming for competitive courses and university destinations. Through specialist guidance, enrichment opportunities and tailored preparation, the programme helps students to develop the knowledge, confidence and skills required to pursue their ambitions. This year, Thomas Lawson was among those securing an outstanding opportunity. After achieving A*, A*, A in A Level maths, chemistry, and biology, Thomas will progress to study medicine at Newcastle University.

Solihull Sixth Form College

Solihull Sixth Form College is celebrating superb results in 2026 for learners on A level, BTEC and T level courses, with 73.6% of grades at A*-C at A level and 85% of BTEC grades at Distinction or above. Good Morning Britain were on site to document the occasion (see above).

Among the many successes this year are students who have earned Oxbridge places. This includes Sarah Yousafzai, who has secured a place at the University of Oxford to study biochemistry. Meanwhile, places at the University of Birmingham are beckoning for Christopher Hill and Ben Jackson, after they achieved top grades in their A levels; they will be studying History and Mathematics respectively.

Dr Martin Sullivan, principal of the college, commented: “I'm so proud of our fantastic young people for their achievements. Learners have put in a tremendous amount of hard work and I am delighted that their efforts have been rewarded. Academic standards have been rising steadily in recent years and teaching staff deserve praise for their diligent work in supporting our learners to achieve these grades. The majority of our students are progressing onto university, and whatever their next challenge - higher education, apprenticeship or employment - we wish them the best of luck for the future.”

Newcastle and Stafford Colleges Group

Reinforcing NSCG’s status as Staffordshire’s leading college, today’s results showcase outstanding individual and collective performance. From securing places at Oxbridge and Russell Group universities to launching high-level apprenticeships, NSCG students continue to lead the way. At A level, 1,435 entries recorded an overall pass rate of 99.2%, with 62.5% of students earning top grades of A*-B (58% in 2025) and 28.4% achieving A*-A (24% in 2025). Overall, 85.6% of entries achieved A*-C grades (85.3% in 2025). T levels saw a 99% pass rate, with 30% of learners achieving Distinction grades or higher and 83.7% of learners achieving Merit grades or higher (73% in 2025). 1203 entries on BTECs achieved a 99% pass rate, with 58.6% securing high Triple Distinction grades (56.2% in 2025) and 82.3% achieving DMM or higher (80.2% in 2025).

Destinations for the Class of 2026 include the University of Oxford, University of Cambridge, King’s College London, University of Birmingham, University of Manchester, University of Nottingham, University of Liverpool, Durham University, Falmouth University, Loughborough University and Edinburgh University, as well as prestigious apprenticeships with the likes of BAE Systems, Bentley Motors, Rolls Royce and Capula. Daryan Othman (left) achieved A*A*AAA in his A levels in maths, physics, further maths, and computing, and his EPQ, and is progressing to Mansfield College at Oxford to study engineering. Consistently highlighted as intellectually curious with the ability to approach challenging concepts with clarity and structure, Daryan was one of the top performers in a highly competitive cohort, showing strong analytical thinking and excellent problem-solving skills. Alongside his academic studies, Daryan took part in a range of high-level enrichment opportunities, including General Electric’s three-year Next Engineers Academy, the RAF Air Cadets, the UKMT Senior Maths Challenge and the British Physics Olympiad. He also completed a summer research project at Keele University exploring real-world application of mathematical concepts in engineering, and participated in Cambridge STEM SMART.

Keira Mayo-Carney (right) achieved D*D*D* in her Level 3 extended diploma in health and social care and is heading straight into employment at Abbey Hill Special School. Her journey at Leek College reflects dedication, resilience and remarkable personal growth. Beginning her studies at Level 2, she quickly progressed from a quiet and reserved learner into a high achiever. Kiera is highly regarded by both staff and peers for her kindness, professionalism and supportive nature. She contributed to a positive and inclusive learning environment and was always willing to help others. Her placement feedback was consistently excellent, reflecting her ability to apply her skills in real-world settings and her strong potential within the sector.

Eve Wright's (left) Distinction in T Level education and childcare, with a specialism in assisting teaching, is leading her to study primary education with QTS at Edge Hill University. A reliable, hardworking and compassionate student, Eve set a superb example to her peers through consistency, maturity and a strong work ethic. She approaches her studies with enthusiasm and purpose, always demonstrating a genuine commitment to supporting children’s learning and development. Her industry placement was particularly impressive, where she performed to such a high standard that she was offered paid employment to support a school’s before and after school club.

Varndean College, Brighton

Varndean Sixth Form College in Brighton is celebrating another year of impressive academic achievement, with students securing excellent results across A Level and Level 3 vocational qualifications. The results reflect the dedication, determination and talent of Varndean’s students, alongside the continued commitment and support of all its staff. The college has recorded an impressive A Level pass rate of 98%, with over 52% of grades awarded at  A*-B and a quarter at A* or A grade, the highest ever. With over three-quarters of students achieving grades between A*-C, the results demonstrate continued excellence. Excellent results were  also seen across the college’s vocational programme, with a 98% pass rate and more than 50% of students achieving the highest grades of Distinction or Distinction*. Together, the results reflect the breadth and strength of provision at Varndean Sixth Form College and the impressive achievements of students across its diverse range of courses. 

College principal Donna-Marie Janson expressed her delight at the results, saying: “I am incredibly proud of our students today. These results represent two years of hard work, determination and resilience, and behind every grade is an individual young person with their own story, ambitions and hopes for what comes next. To see such impressive results across A Levels and vocational qualifications, alongside the remarkable International Baccalaureate results our students achieved in July, is a wonderful achievement for our whole college community. Our staff care deeply about our students and work incredibly hard to help every young person flourish, and these results are testament to that. Results Day is always about much more than the numbers for us. It is about celebrating how far our students have come and everything that now lies ahead of them. Whether they are going on to university, an apprenticeship, employment, travelling or something completely different, we are enormously proud of them and cannot wait to see what they do next.“

In addition to its A Level and vocational programme, the College also provides students with the opportunity to pursue the highly regarded International Baccalaureate Diploma, where earlier in July, IB students achieved remarkable high scores. One student achieved the very maximum score of 45, putting him in the top 1% of students worldwide, with 38% achieving over 36 points (the equivalent of AAA at A Level) and 13% securing 40 points or more (equivalent to A* A* A) — placing them among the top-performing IB students globally.   

Many of Varndean Sixth Form College’s IB applicants have secured places at a range of top universities, including:

• Arun Webb, who achieved the maximum score of 45 points and will study Social and Public Policy with Quantitative Methods at the University of Glasgow.

• Iris Dury, who achieved 44 points and will study French and Beginners' Italian at the University of Oxford.

• Toby Douglass, who achieved 43 points and will read Anglo-Saxon, Norse and Celtic at the University of Cambridge.
