SFCA MAT Workshop

2nd Apr 2019 12:30 - 16:00 Stoke Sixth Form College, Leek Road, Stoke, Staffordshire, ST4 2RU

Book your place here

This workshop is an opportunity for principals, leaders and chairs of SFCs that have formed or joined a MAT, or are thinking of doing so, to come together to explore the ways in which this structural change can be most effectively managed, developed and exploited for the benefit of all.

Some of the questions for consideration might include:

  • What can a SFC bring to a schools-led, or schools-dominated MAT?
  • Are there strengths that a SFC can bring beyond 16-19 expertise (eg transition, IAG, subject knowledge, governance, back-office services etc)?
  • What barriers might there be to effective partnership working within the MAT?
  • Do the MAT partners properly understand a SFC context (eg data analysis, funding, learning culture)? (How) can the level of understanding be improved?
  • How can the SFC contribute to and make the most of the Board and other governance arrangements?
  • (How) does membership of a MAT impact on the critical relationships with other feeder schools?

12.30 - 16.00 Lunch followed by discussion

John Edwards, RSC in the Midlands, will be opening the discussion.
